According to two studies, toilets “sneeze” when flushed, spewing aerosolized plumes of moisture six to eight feet up and out from the toilet. Ewwww. Better yet, this disgusting cloud of bacteria and viruses stays airborne for up to two hours! Don't believe it? Test it out yourself. Put some food dye into the toilet water, flush it, and hold a piece of white paper horizontally across the seat of the toilet. Bottom Line: Close the lid when you flush!
