Are you overwhelmed with trying to remember which kid gets which vitamin, allergy medicine, reflux med, Miralax, etc. each day? Do you wind up beating yourself up for forgetting to give some of the meds some days? Try these simple tips to help:
1. Keep a chart - list the kids names across the top, and the vitamins/meds they must take down the left side. As you give each med, check it off. If you need to, you can add times that the meds must be taken to your chart.
2. Prepare Ahead of Time - Pre-bag each childs daily meds in individual ziplock bags. Make up a week's worth of 7 separate baggies ahead of time, with the child's name and day of the week on each.
If some of the meds are liquid and must be refrigerated, put a small slip of paper in the bag that reminds you - i.e. "1 tsp. Zantac". Take the slip out when you give your child that med.
Alternatively, if you have, for example, a liquid vitamin that does not have to be refrigerated, put the bottle in Monday's bag. As soon as you give it to your child, move it to Tuesday's bag, etc.
At the end of the day, the current day's bag should be empty.
3. Start a Routine - Get into the habit of giving certain things at certain times, and you will find that the kids will get into a routine and remind you if you forget. For example, vitamins will be given each morning with breakfast. Allergy medicine will be given each night before bed, etc.
These simple tips take no time at all and will help you stay organized and stress free, while your kids get the vitamins and meds that they need!
